On a recent post, I talked about how you should remove your homepage slideshow. And I just had another thought about it as I looked at a client’s website.
He had four slides, all radically different messages, aimed at four types of customers. So, for every website visitor, it’s very likely only one slide out of the four will matter. So what is he thinking… that the visitor will wait for each slide to see if the service he or she needs will show up? Do you do that when you visit a site?
Have faith that your customers can navigate your site. If they can’t glean what they need from your homepage within three seconds, it’s not a good homepage. The slides won’t matter.
One slide, kids. Put your strongest message there, and leave it there.
