Yup, I’m developing a new website for clear-writing .
“But Dan,” you say, “you just launched THIS design last year. Why so soon?”
Blame Maryellen (the real boss around here.) She bought me an iPad last year. One day, I said “gee, how does my site look on an iPad?” And I about puked.
It didn’t look so hot. HTML tables and such don’t squish very well. Oh, and forget the phone.
So I’m getting a new, “responsive” design done. I’m also a little sad for traditional HTML web developers – I don’t know how they stay in buisness. Because I bought a beautiful, responsive wordpress template for $35. Then I paid a wordpress developer I know a few hundred to do some modifications. Now I’m having my Graphics Goddess (that’s what I call her anyway) do up some graphics. Once that’s done, I’ll apply my own “knows juuust enough to be dangerous” knowledge to finish it off.
So this will be the fourth version of www.clear-writing.com. The first ran from 2002-2005, and was made by myself in notepad. The second was the longest. I had Kelley from Web-Eze make it, and it ran from 2005-2011. But times (and screen resolutions) changed, so last year, I got this one made (a combined effort of three colleagues… plus me. Like I said, I know enough to be dangerous).
Now I will have something a little more modern. Which I’m happy about – I feel my “look” here is not quite professional enough. Listen, I know I’m somewhat the anti-corporate guy, and this look is right out of my brain. But I do great work, and like corporate projects. And my site just isn’t polished enough – my look and color scheme scream “homemade” (and it generally is – like I said, this all derived from me).
So anyway, look for a new clear-writing website sometime this summer. I just need to get the shell done, and I’ll likely be using much of the copywriting here, so it shouldn;t take me too long. We’ll see – i said that last year too, and it took six months! 🙂
