Yea yea yea… Godzilla and Gamera drinking Bourbon is a pretty silly topic for a post. Those of you who read my old blog will know I’m doing a simple SEO test with this (have to do a new one for the new blog), and those of you reading my blog for the first time are likely saying “hmmm, this Dan guy is a little strange… no self respecting businessperson would blog about Godzilla and Gamera.”
But really, why not? Godzilla and Gamera were a big part of my childhood, and, since I’m 45, I’m pretty confident that some button-down executives out there thoroughly enjoyed a Godzilla or Gamera movie on a Saturday morning in 1977. Maybe even some Bourbon too, but we’ll leave that alone (I won’t tell). But my point isn’t the monsters, or even the booze – it’s the fact that we’re so hung up on SEO and keywords, that I’m going to try and point out that yes, while keywords matter to a degree, they don’t matter that much (nowhere near as much as you think they do.)
Are there any really astute monster fans out there? Because the really sharp ones will know that my title is very misleading. Godzilla and Gamera never had any differences – heck, they never even appeared in a movie together. Godzilla fought Anzilla, King Kong, Gidorah, Mothra, The Smog Monster (really), Megalon, Gigan, Space Godzilla, Mecha Godzilla, and a host of others. He usually won, too (and you thought “King of the Monsters” was an arbitrary title – for shame). But he never fought Gamera. They never even appeared in a movie together, which I almost find astonishing. Between the two, I have about 14 DVD’s of giant monster goodness, but then never share a screen. Sad.
But anyway, enough on Godzilla and Gamera. They really aren’t all that important. It will all be apparent in a day or two.
