Meet Dan Furman, the writer

Hi! My name is Dan Furman, and I am a professional writer / marketing consultant with 20+ years of writing, business, and sales experience.

My website is called Clear-Writing.com, and my company is named Night Owl e-Ventures Inc. I've been in business since 1999, and am incorporated in New York (incorporated since March 2004.)

I've also written a book about starting and running a business. It's about home based businesses like mine, but it's useful for just about any small business. It's also funny as hell, and has a ton of good information. You can read about it (and buy it) here.

A Bit About Me Professionally

I've wanted to be a writer since I was a kid. I love to write - actually, I love to write the type of writing you are now reading. Direct, straight, business sales writing. That's my strength.

My background is marketing / sales / computers. I'm not classically trained (I have no business degree), but I always seemed to have a knack for figuring out how to sell product / services.

And, of course, I could just plain write.

I've used my writing ability to open a lot of doors for myself, and also to make my employers a lot of money. From writing ads, signs, sales letters, websites, press releases, literature for the big convention (and just about anything else), I always became a fixture in any part of the operation that dealt with getting customers to buy.

So it was natural for me to strike out on my own. I've been in business for seven years, and I love it. I write for small companies, and I write for giant corporations. The one common thread is the people who hire me are truly interested in great writing. I like that.

A bit about me personally

I am 42 years old, live in NY, and have been married to my wife Maryellen since 1999. We were married in Vegas a few days after we met, and it couldn't have worked out better. Trust your gut, folks. It's almost never wrong.

We have a dog and a cat. My cat hangs around my office all day with me. I think she likes the tapping of the keyboard keys.

I work out of my home office, so that means I work a lot. I also like fixing up my house and yard, and I like using my tools (I do almost all of my own home improvement, and I've become a fairly adept plumber and electrician.) I'm also a big movie buff, autumn is my favorite season, and I like all things scary. I'm also really into Fantasy Football, and am in several leagues.
