About Us

Clear-Writing.com is the name of the website (and brand, if you will), and the company name is Night Owl e-Ventures, Inc. We are a NY corporation run by myself (Dan Furman) and my wife, Maryellen (who handles the accounting, insurance, legal, and other boring nonsense).

Night Owl e-Ventures has been in business since 1999, and we incorporated in March of 2004. We are also listed with the Better Business Bureau for online businesses.

The success of any business will ultimately be measured in not only how well you do the actual work, but also how you go about conducting business.

I can pledge to you that at Night Owl e-Ventures, service means something.

It means we actually do what we say. It means we will be easily reachable, and if we're not, it means your message is returned within a reasonable timeframe. It means simple things, like if we have a vacation planned, we let you know ahead of time. It means doing the little "extra" things. It means actually finishing projects.

Take a look at my blog - you won't see the last entry written two months ago. Know why? Because I care enough that if I'm going to put "dates" on things, I make sure it is kept reasonably current. Also, check my website - not a broken link on it.

What does that mean? It means little details don't slip.

A little company history

I started Night Owl in early 1999. I originally started the company to offer my e-commerce programming skills (EDI). I did very well due to my website really pulling in the business. However, the software I was proficient in was a pretty small "niche" program, and upgrades and mergers made my particular niche obsolete. This was several years ago.

About this time, I noticed something - according to my web logs, almost all of my website's visitors read every single page. I guess I really shouldn't have been surprised, because throughout my entire professional career, no matter what my "official" title was, I was always sought out to handle the company's writing. I just have a knack for it.

So anyway, the lightbulb goes on - why not make a website offering my writing skills and reach businesses and people everywhere? That's exactly what I did - I put together a really crude website offering my writing. E-commerce programming was quickly forgotten as the phone started ringing for writing work.

And it hasn't stopped ringing in years (although my website is decidedly better looking these days). I write for everyone - from Fortune 100™ companies to individual people needing a letter, and I couldn't be happier doing it.
