Writing Samples
Here are some businesses and organizations I’ve written web copy for, with a small explanation for each. I’ve written copy for thousands of websites, across all industries, and I feel the following sites represent a nice cross-section of business types:
Please note – I only post web copy samples, because websites are very public. Letters / brochures / etc are more selective in distribution, and clients may wish to keep those private. However, these sites (plus my own site here) should give you a fine idea of my writing style.

Section 179 .org Section 179 is the provision of the US tax code for business equipment deductions. It seems to be a yawn-inducing subject, but here I think I did a really good job at clearly explaining the code in an engaging, Plain English fashion. Also, the web copy uses keywords very well (which was important to this client, as he had extensive SEO plans). To see for yourself, go to Google and type in “section 179″.
Strata Management Software by Power Strata. This is specific software used by specific businesses. And the website is beautiful, clear, and definitely gets to the point.
I write a lot of those landing pages you see advertised on Weather.com, CNN.com, etc. You know, those “secret trick to getting low car insurance”. I make these companies a lot of money.
UK Courier Guide by CRV Courier – This is a hybrid site (which I like quite a bit), with some aspects of a long sales letter (the guide page), and also a conventional site (with a home/about/faq/etc). I helped Andy (the owner) come up with the pages / page order for this site, and wrote all the copy. He reported sales up over 35% almost immediately.
Clearly Trained – Based in Kentucky, Clearly Trained is a perfect example of a small business using the internet to sell a GREAT “niche-type” product/service to the world. I love this site (oh, I also helped them come up with the name/URL.)
Premier Marketing – High level marketing consulting company who creates and manages membership upgrade programs for million dollar clients. Still, despite the high level clients, this site is very accessible in terms of language.
Mobile Web Development by Nazartt. Yes, we all need to go mobile, and these folks can help you do it.
Powerboat Lessons by Yachts 4 Fun. Because who doesn’t want to skim across the water really, really fast?
Meritrust Asset Recoveries This site needed an engaging, reassuring voice to explain to people that no, this is NOT a scam, and very real. It does a nice job of doing just that. Plus, Jennifer does a great service for her clients, and is a really nice person as well.
Online Backup by Safetynet – a professional online backup service for businesses.
My Student Inbox – E-mail exclusively for schools.
Commercial Cleaning Melbourne by RDND Facility Services. The best commercial cleaners down under!
Academic Coaching by Whitecraft Learning Solutions. This is a husband and wife team that do academic coaching from their home.
Kilimanjaro International is an international consulting and training firm that specializes in serving emerging nations and the companies / government agencies within. This is a very professional, comprehensive site meant to appeal to clients on several continents. It’s also one of my personal favorites, as I had to take a lot of high-level concepts and language make them more accessible, while still keeping a professional and competent tone.
Home Staging by Decor Amore. This is two-woman team of exceptional home designers in Michigan. They have a really nice website, too (a well-written one at that! 
Wireless Management by Intratem – Intratem is a company that manages other companies wireless accounts / expenditures. This is another good sized site with strong information (and another good example of page order / flow making sense.)
Arizona Realtor Sean Gaughan Sean Gaughan is a Scottsdale-area Realtor. From the left link bar, go to and read the different “buying your home” pages. I really don’t like hot weather much, but I almost want to live here after reading the descriptions of the different towns (and I wrote the darn things!)
InfoPro – A high level IT company that specializes in government agencies. This is about as “corporate” as I get (it’s still very accessible.)
ICG Consulting – Again, a high level corporate consulting company (this time tech and back-end financial consulting) who didn’t want to sound like a stuffy corporation. For a good example of “Plain English” corporate language, click on the little “post it note” at the top right.
High Quality Candles by Angie’s Candle Shop – This is a niche, home-based retailer selling an excellent product (in this case, triple-scented candles). And yea, the candles really are wonderful – I know a bit about this, because I make my own wax tarts. Angie’s candles are first-rate.
Nearly Natural I write the product descriptions (hundreds of them) for this company.
Online Gambling Information - We wrote all of the articles for this website. There are several hundred of them (go to the top links, then go to articles for that link.) This is a good example of our SEO article writing – unlike most online articles, these are not garbage “throw-away” articles, but actually something someone will read (besides being heavily keyworded, of course.)
