Clear-writing.com is a professional copywriting and consulting business owned and operated by copywriter, author, and entrepreneur Dan Furman.

What We Do

The first thing we do is provide companies of any size with clear, effective “Plain English” writing. Web copy, letters, press releases, marketing collateral, and anything else you need. From 3 pages to 300, my friendly, persuasive words will engage your readers, get across what you want to get across, and drive business your way.

Additionally, I’m an author and a home business / entrepreneurial expert, and I help other entrepreneurs in this regard.

Business Philosophy

Essentially, the business is me. So here’s what you can expect:

• Excellent Work- I like what I do, and I also like to do it well. There’s no other way to work, in my opinion. If you enjoyed my website, you’ll be pleased with my work.
  
  
• Honesty- You deserve my honesty 100% of the time. And I need to sleep at night. Sometimes being honest isn’t fun, because it means telling people things they don’t want to hear. I’ve even turned down projects because I felt my writing would not help the clients (for example, the best words on a really outdated website won’t help you much at all. If I feel that way, I’ll say so.)
  
  
• Easy to work with- I answer client e-mail pretty promptly, and I return calls. I also take all credit cards, and am always on time (a rare skill, it would seem).
  
  
• A Fair Price – Not a low low price, mind you, but a fair one. You could expect to pay me about what you pay other skilled professionals for their services – an accountant, a master electrician or plumber, etc.

Reasonable is a good word to describe how I run things – we’re very reasonable to work with around here.

Some business credentials

I’ve run this business for more than a decade. I am Better Business Bureau certified (since 2005), and have an excellent Dun and Bradstreet rating (we incorporated in 2004 – all of the “official stuff” is under Night Owl e-Ventures Inc.)

I feel these types of credentials are very important – listen, anyone can setup some web business. All you need is a website and PayPal. If you are going to pay someone good money to handle an important project, you should be assured that you are working with a professional company. And our track record in this respect is impeccable.

Oh, and you can also find me in your local bookstore, too. That’s pretty credible.

Who works here?

Well, there’s me… that’s 90% of the company. My wife Maryellen does a lot of the “paper and numbers” stuff so I can concentrate on writing and other tasks. And my cat hangs around the office a lot. Although she’s not as helpful as Maryellen (in fact, I’m still trying to figure out what the cat does that’s productive.)

I’m also a bit of a virtual company. I have two solid, trusted, US-based professional writers who help me with overload from time to time – usually for big projects where the client doesn’t expect “me” to write 100 articles in a week, etc. But 90% of the writing / work is me.

Closing Thoughts

As you can see, I do things a little old fashioned, and I strive to be a company that both entrepreneurs can work with, and large corporations can trust.
